Replace plastic cards with branded digital membership passes that stay current, scan quickly, and require no custom member app.
The case for change
For clubs, associations, and membership organisations, replacing a card or ticket is only useful when it improves the whole operating journey. The real test is whether people can join more easily, staff can recognise the right entitlement quickly, and the organisation can keep access current without maintaining several disconnected lists.
The recurring problems are specific:
- Physical cards being lost, forgotten, or expensive to replace
- Membership status and expiry dates becoming out of date
- Staff searching separate systems when a member arrives
What the new workflow needs to support
A useful setup for membership organisations connects the sale or registration with the credential used at the point of entry. RemyPass is designed around three linked stages: the organisation creates the membership or ticket, the holder receives a branded Apple Wallet or Google Wallet pass, and staff scan that pass against the live record.
That approach can support:
- Branded digital membership cards
- Renewals and live member status
- Fast QR-code access checks
Typical use cases for membership organisations
- Association member cards
- Club memberships
- Member benefits and access passes
How the journey works
1. Import existing members or collect new registrations through a form or checkout
The initial record should contain only the information required to administer the membership or ticket and decide who can use it.
2. Issue each member a branded pass for Apple Wallet or Google Wallet
Apple Wallet and Google Wallet provide a familiar place for the holder to keep the credential without installing a venue-specific app.
3. Scan the pass and validate current membership status at the point of access
The scan should answer the operational question immediately: is this the right person, with the right entitlement, at the right time?
What belongs on the pass
The pass should help the holder and the member of staff complete the next action. For most clubs, associations, and membership organisations, that means keeping it deliberately concise:
- A clear pass title
- The holder's name or membership reference
- Current status, dates, or access entitlement
- A scannable code when validation is required
- Recognisable organisation branding
- A support or renewal link where useful
A realistic rollout plan
Begin with one membership tier and a small member cohort. Confirm the pass fields and scanning workflow, then move remaining tiers across once staff and members are comfortable.
Before launch, test the journey with the staff who will use it at the busiest point of the day. Confirm what they need to see after a scan, how exceptions will be handled, and who owns corrections to a member or ticket record. That operational rehearsal matters more than adding every possible field to the first pass.
Questions teams usually ask
How do digital membership cards work?
Each member receives a personalised pass that they can save to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. The pass can display current membership details and a unique code for validation.
Do members need to download an app?
No. Members use Apple Wallet or Google Wallet on their existing phone, so your organisation does not need to persuade them to install another app.
Can a digital membership card be updated after issue?
Yes. Membership status, expiry dates, benefits, links, and messages can be updated without printing and posting a replacement card.
